Three Months Made All the Difference in the World for One Riverside House Client

By April 14, 2016 No Comments

The purpose of Riverside House is to guide men and women convicted of crime into becoming productive citizens through a nondenominational, faith-based approach. Many of our clients that have come through the facility have left with skills and confidence necessary to enter society again.

One such client is *Andrea Olson. After being at Riverside House only three months, *Andrea Olson expressed deep gratitude for Riverside House and the beneficial programs offered there. She feels such relief that there are people in the community that truly care.

Andrea spoke highly of the staff at Riverside House, that from day one all of the staff have been nothing but encouraging and inspiring to her. Perhaps the one thing that made the most impact was the fact that staff genuinely offered to listen without judgement.

Additionally, Andrea felt that the staff’s helpful feedback was truly instrumental in her transition from prison back into the community. Since arriving at Riverside House, she has been job searching diligently, but due to certain restrictions, she admitted that it’s been a challenge. With this in mind, staff members, specifically those from the employment division, have been there every step of the way, encouraging her not to give up.

On top of receiving immense support and encouragement over the course of her stay at Riverside House, Andrea has gained resume skills, job skills, and a stronger connection to God.  She wants others to take advantage of the unique programs and benefits that Riverside House has to offer. Specifically, she gave special recognition to the Employment Department, Pastoral Care Department, and the partnership with OIC, which all impacted her life in a significant way.

Overall, and perhaps most importantly, Andrea feels that being at Riverside House has made her a better person, and has inspired her to believe in herself again.
