The answer is simple. The government is not able to provide all of the basic essentials and spiritual needs of former offenders. In fact, many of our clients arrive to Riverside House with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. To obtain employment, our clients need proper work attire, grooming supplies, job training, and faith. Therefore, we provide them with a welcome box which contains practical items such as: a transit map, essential toiletries, writing tablet and pen, and Bible. In addition, we assess their needs in order to prepare them for what to expect in the days, months, and years to come.
However, providing the fundamentals for our residents’ physical survival is not enough. Therefore, our clients are introduced to a God who will forgive them of their wrongs, love them unconditionally, and transform their lives.

We are a non-denominational faith-based organization that models and teaches the lifestyle of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is delivered simply, keeping in mind that most of our clients are not “church people”. Through the message of God’s love, forgiveness, and accountability, we offer a well-rounded program that has been proven successful by over 6,000 residents graduating from our program. Through Riverside House’s proven program success, those in desperate need become contributing members of society. During a typical year:
- More than 325 Riverside House residents will join the work force.
- Riverside House residents will pay 25% of their gross income which translates into more than $300,000 in program fees to help offset program costs.
- Riverside House residents will repay more than $85,000 in taxes to Miami-Dade County.
